About

A life is not a list of dates. It is a thousand threads.

In French, côtelé describes a richly textured corduroy fabric with lines running through it. In Spanish, tela means cloth. The English words text and textile share an ancient root in the Latin texere, meaning to weave.

Cotele is also a centuries-old surname, appearing in family lines throughout medieval Europe. Today, COTELE sounds like co-tell, an invitation to tell our stories together.

COTELE is a cooperative that brings together the people and companies who help weave our stories. Here, families will discover their work, celebrate their creations, and find the resources they need to tell and preserve their own.

Founded in Salt Lake City, with its rich traditions of family history and cooperative enterprise, COTELE welcomes contributors and visitors from around the world.
